In the spring of 2014, the life of a young Washington, D.C. man was tragically cut short by violence. On the evening of March 31st, 22-year-old Charles Melvin Parrish, a Black male, was shot in the 5400 block of Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue in the Northeast quadrant of the city. Police responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 9:50 p.m. and discovered Parrish suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
