On February 5, 2023, at approximately 9:36 a.m., Sylacauga Police Department officers responded to reports of gunshots in the Drew Court Housing Complex. Upon arrival, they discovered 34-year-old Devadney Sanchez "Pookie" Lauderdale lying in the front yard of 189 Sherwood Drive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
