On March 5, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m., Pelham police and fire medics responded to a reported shooting at the Extended Stay America hotel located at 101 Bishop Circle in Pelham, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Deon Levonte King-Smith, a resident of North Carolina, suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, King-Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
