On May 1, 2023, at approximately 12:55 a.m., 27-year-old Nicholas "BigNick" Nickson of Sawyerville, Alabama, was found deceased behind one of the buildings at Griffin Mandela Apartments in Greensboro. The Greensboro Police Department requested assistance from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's (ALEA) State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to lead the case.
