In the early hours of Monday, May 1, 2023, the quiet of Jones Street in Greensboro, Alabama, was shattered by gunfire. Responding to the scene at approximately 12:53 a.m., law enforcement officers discovered the body of 27-year-old Nicholas Nickson, a male resident of the nearby community of Sawyerville. He had been fatally shot. The Greensboro Police Department requested the assistance of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation to delve into the circumstances surrounding Nickson's death.
As the investigation progressed, special agents with the SBI identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. On Tuesday, May 2, 2023, authorities arrested 23-year-old Keoviance Kentrell Scott-Golsby, who was also a resident of Sawyerville. Scott-Golsby was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Hale County Detention Facility.
