In the small city of Greensboro, Alabama, the life of 33-year-old Terrell Lashawn Powell, a male, was cut short in a violent act that led to a capital murder indictment. While initial reports from a gun violence memorial page mentioned his death occurred on May 15, 2023, court records in the indictment of a suspect state the fatal incident took place on September 26, 2024.
On that September day, a deadly weapon was fired from outside into a dwelling where Powell was located, resulting in his death. The act was not isolated, as the indictment alleges the shots were fired from a vehicle and that a firearm was also discharged into the home of another person. The incident left a void in the lives of his family, who were left searching for answers in the aftermath of the shooting.
The investigation into Powell's death led to the arrest of 19-year-old Chardarius Leon Moore of Greensboro. A Hale County grand jury indicted Moore on multiple charges, including two counts of capital murder: one for firing into an occupied dwelling and another for shooting from a vehicle. He also faces a charge of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied building. Following the indictment, Moore was held in the Hale County Jail without bond, awaiting his arraignment on the charges.
