On July 9, 2023, the body of 24-year-old Brandon Marquez Porter was discovered in a wooded area near the 1100 block of Highway 78 West in Jasper, Alabama. Investigations revealed that Porter had died from a gunshot wound, with evidence suggesting the homicide occurred around July 4.
