On August 17, 2023, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Montgomery police and fire medics responded to a vehicle fire on Interstate 85 southbound near Taylor Road. Upon extinguishing the flames, they discovered the body of 38-year-old Joseph Turner inside the vehicle. An autopsy conducted by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences revealed that Turner had been fatally shot.
