On August 29, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Huntsville Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a shooting incident in the 4400 block of Bonnell Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered two women, 24-year-old D'Asia Monique Morris and 20-year-old Sequoiya Mone'e Lamar, both deceased from gunshot wounds. The HPD's Major Crimes Unit initiated an investigation into the double homicide.
