In the early morning hours of October 7, 2023, the life of 20-year-old Jaquez Octavious Hill, a Black male from Midland City, Alabama, was tragically cut short. At approximately 3:12 a.m., while walking to his car in the parking lot of a business in the 100 block of West Main Street in Dothan, Hill was fatally shot. He had just been a patron at a nearby nightclub.
First responders found him with multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Dothan Police Department launched an immediate and thorough investigation into the homicide. With assistance from the community, who provided crucial leads, investigators were able to identify three suspects. The first arrest was made on October 11, 2023, when 20-year-old Jacob Warren Crisostomo of Slocomb was taken into custody and charged with one count of murder. His bond was set at $1.5 million.
Following Crisostomo's arrest, the investigation continued to progress. Twenty-five-year-old Zackary Dale Easton surrendered to the authorities and was subsequently charged with one count of murder and one count of discharging a firearm into an unoccupied vehicle. The third suspect, 22-year-old Chase Lee Saleen Easton, was also charged with one count of murder. The legal process for all three men is ongoing. In March 2024, Chase Lee Easton entered a plea of not guilty to the murder charge as the community awaits justice for the untimely death of Jaquez Hill.
