In the early hours of November 4, 2023, a home invasion occurred at 1577 County Road 245 in Moulton, Alabama. Two intruders, identified as 36-year-old Jordan Cesar Hernandez from Decatur and 28-year-old Auburn Renee Moore from New Hope, entered the residence with the intent to commit robbery. During the invasion, 40-year-old homeowner Dustin Riley "Dusty" Grimes was fatally shot in his bedroom while attempting to protect his wife.
