On December 24, 2021, 20-year-old Gavin Ryan Hargrove was found deceased from a gunshot wound at a residence on County Road 217 in Moulton, Alabama. The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office responded to a call reporting a possible dead person and discovered Hargrove's body upon arrival. The victim was the son of former Lawrence County Commissioner Joey Hargrove, who had passed away earlier that year in a motorcycle accident.
