In the small town of Elba, Alabama, a dispute escalated into a fatal encounter on the evening of Valentine's Day in 2024, claiming the life of 24-year-old Ethan Christopher Hill. The young man was shot multiple times following an argument and was discovered deceased near a baseball field in the Mulberry Heights community.
Following the shooting, a manhunt ensued for three individuals believed to be involved. After more than 16 hours, authorities located and arrested Freddie Jr.
McGee, Leanne Michelle McGee, and a 17-year-old juvenile in Enterprise, a neighboring city. The adult suspects were subsequently charged with murder in connection with Hill's death.
Court proceedings revealed that the altercation may have stemmed from a drug deal that turned violent. During a hearing, it was stated that Freddie McGee allegedly shot Hill two to three times on Jones Street. Both Freddie and Leanne McGee faced an Aniah's Law hearing, a provision in Alabama law that allows judges to deny bond for violent offenses. The judge was considering the decision on their bond while they awaited a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 13, 2024. Due to the third suspect's age, their information and specific charges were not publicly released.
