In the early afternoon of June 15, 2024, a sense of unease settled over a residence on Oneonta Cut-off Road in Albertville, Alabama. Inside the home, where two women and children were also present, a violent encounter left 34-year-old Daniel Long, a white male, with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. When officers from the Albertville Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered the grim aftermath of the shooting.
At the residence, law enforcement encountered Colton Dozier.
Following a conversation with him, Dozier was taken into custody. Emergency medical services were summoned for Long, who was rushed to Marshall Medical Center South. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
