In the late hours of a Wednesday night in Madison, Alabama, a young man's life was cut tragically short. Brian Wiggins Jr., an 18-year-old male from nearby Decatur, was found on the ground on Miller Boulevard, just north of Old Madison Pike, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The Madison Police Department responded to a call about the shooting at approximately 11:30 p.m. on July 3, 2024.
First responders acted quickly, transporting Wiggins to Huntsville Hospital.
Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away on July 4, 2024. The incident was immediately investigated as a homicide by the Madison Police Department. Investigators stated that they believed the shooting was an isolated event and that the victim and the person responsible likely knew each other.
Following the shooting, the Madison Police Department appealed to the public for any information that could lead to an arrest. Their investigation progressed swiftly, and on the subsequent Saturday, authorities executed search and arrest warrants at a residence in Madison. This led to the arrest of 18-year-old Christopher Saam of Madison. Saam was charged with the murder of Brian Wiggins Jr. and was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail. While an arrest has been made, the police have indicated that the investigation is still active.
