In the late summer of 2017, a life was tragically cut short in Madison, Alabama. On Sunday, September 3rd, deputies from the Madison County Sheriff's Office responded to a call concerning a shooting at 156 Dexter Circle. Upon their arrival, they discovered the body of 21-year-old Christopher Hamlett, a resident of Florence. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The young man was known to his loved ones by the nickname 'Lil Chris.'
The investigation into the death of Christopher Hamlett quickly led to a suspect. Authorities identified 44-year-old Sammie Lee Driskell as the individual responsible for the shooting. Within a short period, Driskell was taken into custody by law enforcement.
Following his arrest, Sammie Lee Driskell was formally charged with the murder of Christopher Hamlett. He was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail as he awaited legal proceedings in connection with the fatal shooting.
