On the afternoon of September 7, 2024, Athens, Alabama, was the scene of a tragic incident resulting in the death of 33-year-old Ladevine Adre Crutcher. At approximately 2:45 p.m., multiple 911 calls reported a shooting at the Fifth Avenue Apartments, part of the Athens Housing Authority. Responding officers discovered Crutcher's body in a grassy area of the property. Coroner Mike West later confirmed his identity.
