On a cold December evening, the sounds of gunshots shattered the peace in the 2200 block of Mount View Place, Southeast. When officers from the Seventh District arrived at the scene around 9:32 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2016, they found two men who had been shot. Both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. One of the men, 29-year-old Damian Keith Thomas of Northeast, DC, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim was left in critical condition.
