On October 28, 2018, in the polar darkness of Utqiagvik a 29-year-old Alaskan Native, male named Edmund Siologa stepped toward a door to keep the cold from swallowing a man who had been turned away from a small birthday gathering. Moments earlier that morning, the host had ordered the celebrant, Asiagin Dana Ahmaogak, out of the house after he brandished a gun. About an hour later, Ahmaogak returned and knocked.
