On June 5, 2024, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire near the intersection of 1st Avenue South and Center Street in the North Titusville neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Birmingham resident Obray Carter unresponsive on his cruiser-style motorcycle, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
