The young male, a student who was known for his love of the outdoors, four-wheeling, and video games, was a cherished son and a joy to his family. He was often described as a 'momma's boy' and was considered the entire world to his mother, Brandi Howell Whitt.
On January 2, 2024, the lives of both Brantley and his 45-year-old mother, Brandi, were taken in a
fatal shooting at their Gadsden home. Authorities responded to a call regarding a domestic-related shooting and upon arrival, discovered both mother and son deceased at the scene. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, leaving friends and family to grapple with the sudden and tragic loss.
The investigation into the double homicide quickly led to a suspect within the family circle. Brandon Wagnon, Brandi's 25-year-old son and Brantley's half-brother, was identified as the alleged shooter.
