Death by Force

On December 18, 2023, at approximately 7:17 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person down in the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Sheldon Deon Henry Jr. lying unresponsive next to a commercial building. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced him deceased at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office determined that Henry had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
