On July 13, 2023, 58-year-old Cedric Orlando Reese was found unresponsive in his home on the 4700 block of 5th Avenue in Birmingham's Wylam neighborhood. A friend conducting a welfare check discovered Reese's body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office determined that Reese had died from injuries sustained during an assault the previous day.
