In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 17, 2023, a dispute in the parking lot of a Waffle House on Centerpoint Parkway in Alabama escalated to a fatal shooting. Cristall Terrell Hereford, a 26-year-old male from Huntsville, was killed during the altercation, which occurred around 1:30 a.m.
According to accounts from witnesses at the scene, Hereford had been threatening to shoot other patrons in the parking lot of the restaurant. In response to these alleged threats, another individual present in the parking lot produced a firearm and shot Hereford. When law enforcement arrived, they did not find a weapon on Hereford's person. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office was called to the 2200 block of Centerpoint Parkway to investigate the deadly incident.
During their investigation, detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office were able to identify and locate a suspect in the shooting. The individual was taken into custody for a period of time but was subsequently released. The evidence gathered in the case was turned over to the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office, which will determine what, if any, charges will be filed in connection with the death of Cristall Hereford.
