On April 6, 2022, at approximately 4:40 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers from the East Precinct responded to a call concerning a person down at 933 52nd Place North. Upon arrival, they discovered 57-year-old Christopher Bighames inside his apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel, Bighames was pronounced deceased at the scene.
