In the fading days of 2022, a life was cut short in Alexander City, Alabama. On Thursday, December 29, 2022, 18-year-old Elijah Tarez Lewis, a young male, was fatally shot on Thomas Street. The Alexander City Police Department responded to a call about a gunshot victim and found Lewis in need of immediate medical attention. He was quickly transported to Russell Medical Center, but tragically, he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the death of Elijah Tarez Lewis soon
became a homicide case. Investigators from the Alexander City Police Department began to piece together the events of that Thursday. Their efforts led them to identify persons of interest with whom they sought to speak regarding the fatal shooting. As the investigation progressed, a primary suspect emerged.
The Alexander City Police Department identified Dental 'Lil Man' Davis, an 18-year-old Black male, as the suspect in the shooting death of Elijah Tarez Lewis. A warrant for capital murder was issued for Davis's arrest. The United States Marshals Service Gulf Coast Regional Task Force joined the search for Davis, who was described as being 5'9' in height and weighing approximately 180 pounds. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the untimely death of the young man.
