On December 29, 2022, 18-year-old Elijah Tarez Lewis was fatally shot on Thomas Street in Alexander City, Alabama. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m., and Lewis succumbed to his injuries at Russell Medical Center. Authorities identified Dental "Lil Man" Davis as a suspect in the case. In July 2023, Davis was arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with Lewis's death.
