On October 15, 2023, the Alexander City Police Department received information about a possible homicide victim near Henry Street. Officers discovered the body of a deceased male near an abandoned house in the area. The remains were transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy, which confirmed foul play. On October 17, the victim was identified as 45-year-old Ricky Montel Johnson from Opelika, Alabama.
