On February 21, 2022, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Shelby County Sheriff's deputies initiated a traffic stop near Columbiana, Alabama. The vehicle, driven by 29-year-old Denorrious Darnel Garner, failed to comply, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, occupants of the fleeing vehicle reportedly fired shots at the pursuing deputies. The pursuit concluded when the vehicle crashed on County Road 37 near Verde Green Lane.
