In the early morning hours of February 22, 2022, a police pursuit in Shelby County, Alabama, ended in a crash that claimed the lives of two men from Columbiana. Skyler Austin Wilson, 26, was behind the wheel of the vehicle that fled from deputies. The chase concluded when the vehicle crashed, resulting in Wilson sustaining critical injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
