On February 22, 2022, 26-year-old Skyler Austin Wilson of Columbiana, Alabama, was involved in a fatal incident following a police pursuit in Shelby County. The chase began near Columbiana around 2:30 a.m. and concluded on County Road 37 near Verda Green Lane when the vehicle, driven by Wilson, crashed.
