On February 22, 2022, 26-year-old Skyler Austin Wilson of Columbiana, Alabama, was involved in a fatal incident following a police pursuit in Shelby County. The chase began near Columbiana around 2:30 a.m. and concluded on County Road 37 near Verda Green Lane when the vehicle, driven by Wilson, crashed. Wilson sustained critical injuries and was transported to UAB Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
