On a Tuesday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 24-year-old Roderick Tavares Chester Jr. was cut short by gunfire. The fatal shooting occurred on October 19, 2021, in the Gate City community. Chester, a male, was remembered by his mother as a 'loving and kind' son. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, another person, a child, sustained injuries from glass and shrapnel.
