On September 22, 2021, at approximately 9:35 p.m., the Birmingham Police Department responded to a ShotSpotter alert indicating eight rounds fired in the 900 block of 44th Place North, within the Morton Simpson Housing Community. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult males with gunshot wounds. One individual was found unresponsive outside a residence and was pronounced deceased by Birmingham Fire and Rescue.
