On June 20, 2017, 20-year-old African American male Antonio Jerome Brooks II was tragically killed in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred when a young man, fleeing after stealing his grandmother's credit card, fired shots at his father during a pursuit. Tragically, Brooks, a passerby, was struck and killed by the gunfire.
