On April 7, 2021, Howard Edward Johnson, a 29-year-old resident of Irondale, Alabama, was fatally shot in Birmingham. The incident took place around 10:15 p.m. at a residence located at 812 Avenue G, where police were dispatched in response to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Johnson lying in the hallway with a gunshot wound, and Birmingham Fire and Rescue declared him deceased on the scene.
