On June 27, 2021, 30-year-old Gary Earl "Junior" Stone Jr. was found fatally shot at 413 N. Nashville Avenue in the Buttermilk Hill community of Sylacauga, Alabama. Officers from the Sylacauga Police Department and the Talladega County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene around 6 p.m., where they discovered Stone suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate CPR efforts by law enforcement and medical personnel, Stone was pronounced dead at the scene.
