On October 20, 2019, at approximately 1:46 a.m., Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to a noise complaint at the Sonesta Extended Stay Suites on Greenhill Parkway in northern Shelby County, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 17-year-old Stanley M. Turner II, a senior at Ramsay High School in Birmingham, deceased in a parked vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. The incident was promptly investigated as a homicide.
