On January 19, 2022, in Helena, Alabama, 75-year-old Chester E. Tarwater Jr. and his 40-year-old daughter, Sharon Tarwater Whited, were found deceased in their home on Piney Woods Drive. The discovery was made by Whited's 12-year-old son, who, upon returning home, found his grandfather unresponsive and contacted emergency services. First responders determined both individuals were deceased, and evidence at the scene indicated foul play.
