On April 27, 2015, 61-year-old Gene Ward Jr. was found deceased in his Helena, Alabama home, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. A relative discovered his body after visiting to check on him.
Investigations led authorities to arrest Ward's son, 26-year-old Justin Taylor Ward, who was charged with capital murder.
