On January 22, 2021, 19-year-old Kristopher Michael Shelly Jr. of Hoover, Alabama, died as a result of a gunshot wound. The incident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at The Woods of Hoover apartment complex, located on Galleria Woods Drive. Shelly was found suffering from a gunshot wound to the head in a vehicle outside the apartment complex.
He was transported to UAB Hospital by Hoover fire medics, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday, January 23, at 1:56 p.m..
