On a tragic Halloween morning in 2023, the lives of a Bessemer couple were cut short in a devastating head-on collision on John Hawkins Parkway in Hoover, Alabama. George Roberts, a 67-year-old male, and his wife, Teresa Roberts, 64, were traveling eastbound in their Nissan Rogue when a westbound Lexus RX 350 crossed the center line and struck their vehicle.
The impact of the crash, which occurred near Hunter Street Baptist Church at approximately 6:19 A.M., was catastrophic, and both George and Teresa Roberts were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Lexus was identified as 34-year-old Sarah Rose Tisdale of Hoover. Following the collision, she was transported to UAB Hospital to be treated for serious injuries. A 3-year-old passenger in her vehicle was also taken to Children's Hospital with minor injuries.
An extensive investigation into the cause of the fatal crash was conducted by the Hoover Police Department's Traffic Homicide investigators. Their findings revealed that Tisdale was operating her vehicle under the influence of multiple controlled substances at the time of the incident. Based on this evidence, the case was presented to the Jefferson County-Bessemer District Attorney's Office.
In early January 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Sarah Rose Tisdale. She was subsequently taken into custody by Hoover Police officers and charged with two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of George and Teresa Roberts. Additionally, she faced a charge of reckless endangerment. Tisdale was booked into the Hoover City Jail before being transferred to the Jefferson County Jail.
