On August 31, 2020, 54-year-old Robert Earl Jackson of Thorsby, Alabama, was fatally shot during an altercation with law enforcement in Chilton County. The incident began around 12:30 p.m. when Thorsby police officers attempted a traffic stop on Montgomery Avenue after Jackson failed to yield at a stop sign, nearly causing a collision.
