On August 29, 2019, 78-year-old Louis "Louie" Charles Zicarelli was fatally shot in his Birmingham, Alabama, home during a robbery. Around 9:30 p.m., Zicarelli answered a knock at his door and was confronted by an assailant who shot him. His wife was present during the incident but was unharmed.
