On July 8, 2019, 46-year-old Jerry B. Robinson Jr. was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred around 8:42 p.m. in the 600 block of Gulfport Street in the Wylam neighborhood. Responding to reports of gunfire, Birmingham police officers arrived to find Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention from Birmingham Fire and Rescue and the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
