A concerned friend made their way to her apartment at 930 Newton Street to check on her. The scene that awaited them was one of horror; Dolores was found motionless on the floor of her home.
The authorities were called, and it was soon determined that Dolores Padilla had been the victim of a brutal homicide, having
been stabbed to death. Investigators from the Denver Police Department began the arduous task of piecing together the events that led to her untimely death. Despite their efforts at the time, the case grew cold. No suspects were ever publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with her murder.
