On December 13, 2023, at approximately 8:35 p.m., Birmingham's 911 Communications Division received multiple reports of gunfire in the 3200 block of 17th Avenue North, an area commonly known as "The Bottoms" or "The Norwood Bottoms." Responding officers were subsequently informed of a female shooting victim at the Chevron gas station located at 3019 12th Avenue North.
