On the evening of August 10, 2020, a discovery was made on Interstate 65 in Birmingham, Alabama, that would leave a family grieving and a community searching for answers. Alabama State Troopers, while on patrol, came across a vehicle stopped underneath the 16th Street North bridge. Inside, they found a man who had sustained an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel arrived to render aid, but it was too late. The man, identified as 30-year-old Condorius Sanchez Williams, was pronounced deceased at the location. The initial investigation by North Precinct officers, who were called to the scene on a report of a person shot inside a vehicle, soon became a homicide investigation.
In the years following the shooting, the case has remained unsolved. Despite appeals to the public for assistance, no suspects have been taken into custody. Detectives have continued to request that anyone with information regarding the death of Condorius Sanchez Williams come forward to help bring closure to his family and see that justice is served.
