On December 23, 2023, just before midnight, 43-year-old David Nicholas, a white male from Birmingham, Alabama, was found gravely injured outside a residence in the 1400 block of Lake Lane Northeast. He had suffered injuries from an assault and was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel.
