Woman found murdered in a field near Erie
In the summer of 1991, a sense of unease settled over the Denver area as Valerie Gail Meeks, a 38-year-old Black woman, vanished without a trace. Valerie was last seen in Denver on June 30, 1991. Days turned into weeks with no word, prompting a missing person report to be filed on July 3rd. The search for Valerie came to a tragic end on July 17, 1991, when her body was discovered near a landfill in Weld County, just outside of Erie, Colorado.
