On December 16, 1966, 17-year-old John Lee Pope was found brutally beaten and stabbed to death in the 1800 block of Wellington Avenue in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake, Virginia. Pope, a sophomore at Booker T. Washington High School, was walking in a neighborhood when he was attacked, making this case one of the oldest unsolved homicides in Chesapeake.
