In the late summer of 2007, the life of Dwayne Vanshawn Minor, a 30-year-old African-American man from Richmond, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On August 25, 2007, Minor was shot and killed in the city, leaving behind a grieving family and a community searching for answers. At the time of his death, he was a father to two sons, Elwin and Jahsiah, and two daughters, Jarmeisha and Deluxia. He was survived by his parents, Rosetta Minor and Carter Bates Jr., and three brothers.
