Emma Layne, a 48-year-old woman from Cody, Virginia, was last seen on June 17, 2017, at the convenience store she owned and operated in Halifax County. Her family became concerned when she failed to show up for work two days later. On November 22, 2017, her body was discovered in a shallow grave on Sandy Ridge Road by hunters, months after her disappearance.
