A woman and her companion are shot and then found at a nearby shopping center In the early hours of a Monday morning in Richmond, Virginia, the life of 25-year-old Chantel E. Norville, an African-American female, was cut short by gunfire. On March 28, 2016, at approximately 2:08 a.m., Norville and a male companion were shot in the 3900 block of Larchmont Lane on the city's Southside.
After the shooting, the pair managed to drive themselves to the Circle Shopping Center on Hull Street in a desperate attempt to find help.
It was there that police, responding to a call for assistance, found them inside a car. Norville was pronounced dead at the scene, while her male companion was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Richmond Police quickly determined that the initial shooting occurred on Larchmont Lane. Despite reports of gunfire in that area, responding officers initially found no victims at the scene. The investigation into Chantel Norville's death was officially ruled a homicide.
As of late 2023, the case remains unsolved. No suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting.
